Works involved the upgrade of the existing car park providing an additional 29 car parking spaces bringing overall new total to 155 spaces, 42 no. sheltered bicycle spaces, EV charging spaces and to improve visibility & pedestrian access to the carpark. The site was approx. 8500m2 with almost 6000m2 of macadam surfacing carried out and 2500m2 of concrete paths & islands,
A new 5m retaining wall with pedestrian ramp from carpark down to street level was constructed to the rear of the Iarnród Eireann compound to extend carparking in this area. The existing carpark was upgraded with new paths, lighting, fencing and surfacing. The entrance was to the station was realigned and area to the front of the station building reconfigured to remove the majority of the parking and provide one way system for drop offs and improved safety for pedestrian access.
The works were programmed into three main phases with works in each phase then sub-divided into smaller work zones. Each area was completed and handed back to the public prior to commencing the next works area. A minimum 115 carpark spaces had to be made available at all times during construction.
