Fabrication & erection of a canopy over the Train Refuelling and Servicing area at the Laois Train Care Depot in Portlaoise Co. Laois. The Works involved erection of 130m long structural steel portal frame over the existing Servicing area and sheeting the frame with single skin cladding.  

The works also involved minor civils for drainage, stairs & fall arrest system for roof access & maintenance and installation of vents in the roof as specific locations for ventilation at locations of exhaust gasses. 

The project was carried out while the Train Care Depot remained live and adjacent to the live rail lines. Majority of the works were carried out during a planned 4-week shutdown of the two railway lines, while train movements on adjacent lines into & out of service sheds were coordinated with site management.  

The enabling works & finishing works were carried out under look out & TIV possessions from Iarnrod Eireann
